The vineyards are planted on steep slopes where stone walls retain the soil, exposed to the south/southeast in the municipalities of Ampuis, Tupin and Semons.

The northernmost plots within the appellation, classified as "Côte Brune," are composed of brown "Schistes" rich in iron oxide. The erosion of gneiss in the southernmost plots, classified as "Côte Blonde," creates a soil called "arzel" (containing some clay and silica).

Tasting Notes

Deep purple color with garnet highlights.

Intense and complex aromas of ripe black fruits like blackcurrant, accompanied by floral notes of violet and spices such as black pepper. Hints of licorice and toast add to the aromatic richness.

A powerful and fleshy entry, with a velvety texture and enveloping tannins. Ripe fruit flavors blend harmoniously with spicy and toasty notes. The structure is balanced, offering good freshness and remarkable persistence on the palate. The finish is long and harmonious, leaving impressions of dark fruit, spices, and a touch of leather.
